Why Give

Help Make a Difference

Your gift makes a real difference in the lives of people in communities all around Charles county who are at their most vulnerable as they cope with a life-limiting illness or with grief and loss.

An unrestricted gift makes you our partner in ensuring that people receive comfort care whenever and wherever they need it. Your gift helps hospice patients in our care – regardless of age or inability to pay – live their remaining days fully, in dignity, comfort and peace, and in accordance with their wishes and beliefs. And it assures our patients’ loved ones and many others from the broader community receive the bereavement care they need.

You are also welcome to designate all or part of your gift to one of the following programs or priorities:

Grief Support programs – Your gift supports bereavement care and grief support for children and adults, including healing therapies, as well as individual and group counseling sessions.

Chesapeake Kids program – Your gift helps make it possible for us to provide hospice and palliative care to children and youth. It also supports specialized bereavement camps, groups and counseling for children and teens.

We Honor Veterans program – Nearly 25% of the patients in our care are military Veterans. Your gift in this area provides them with personalized recognition and acknowledgement of their service.

Charity Care – Your gift in this area helps covers the cost of caring for patients who do not qualify for hospice care under Medicare or Medicaid, or whose private insurance does not provide adequate coverage. These services include clinical care, inpatient care center room and board, emergency expenses, and bereavement support.

Education/Professional Development – Your gift supports education and advocacy activities and collaborations that advance public and professional understanding of complex illness care and explore exciting and promising new frontiers in hospice and bereavement care.

Inpatient Care Center – Our center provides an alternative to hospitalization for complex medical needs where patients’ pain and symptoms cannot be managed safely at home. Your gift can support around-the-clock patient care.

Thank you for your support!

Hospice of Chesapeake and its affiliates, Calvert
